Daniel Paterok was born on September 13, 1985 and received his first piano lessons when he was five years old. In 1994, he began receiving instruction from the great piano teacher, Prof. Gregor Weichert. During his 11 years of classical piano training, he won first prize in the "Jugend Musiziert" piano competition several times over.
It was during a visit to the United States that he saw a movie entitled The Majestic, after which he was immediately bitten by the boogie woogie bug. Back home in Germany, he studied this style of piano playing under the Boogie King of Westphalia, Christian Bleiming.
In keeping with the tradition of the 1930s, he holds regular boogie woogie sessions together with other musicians.
Since 2006, he has been performing regularly with Christian Bleiming in a boogie duo with two pianos.
In 2007 he founded the Daniel Paterok Boogie Duo with the drummer Paul Teschner.
Daniel Paterok is currently studying jazz at the Folkwang Hochschule für Musik in Essen, Germany. He is also the host of the best two-piano boogie session in the region as well as the regular "Jazz um halb acht" ("Jazz at 7:30") series of concerts at Café Arte in Münster.
